Tea
A warm cup of tea is fuel to the soul. The plant grows in beautiful stretches of hilly plains where cascading shades of glistening green, sunlight, and shadows orchestrate a magnificent symphony with the wind. Its leaves breathe in fresh crisp air all year round, giving off a fragrance so blissful, such a heavenly aroma, that no man can deny it. Upon drying up the leaves under the sun, further condensing and fortifying the flavors, the leaves become a force to be reckoned with, able to give even the decadent vanilla bean a run for its money.
The British take these leaves and soak them in warm water, about 70-80 degrees Celsius for about 5-10 minutes, to extract all of this gorgeously refreshing flavor into the beverage. They were the ones who really bought it in India. The Indians saw it and thought of spices. Both of them: are devoured through the nose; Have powerful metabolic effects upon ingestion; Cannot be consumed on their own; Can be balanced with other tastes and flavors to take you to new and exciting places; Are soluble in water; A match made in heaven.
With the addition of the royal cardamom and the elegant clove, the water is begging for divinity. It demands romance. Romance being grand ideals, faithful optimism, and the neverending pursuit of perfection. How can we make it better? A piece of smashed ginger adds a deep, fiery slow burn that glows all the way to the throat. Blending with the stimulating tannins and caffeine, merging with the rich floral and warm flavors, unifying together the herbal and medicinal experiences in a beautiful serenity.
A little splash of white milk to the glowing golden water. Making the beverage filling and nourishing on top of being hydrating already. A spoonful of the sun in edible form. That humble dirty diamond so scorned away and taken for granted. From the magnificently incandescent star's scorching surface that explodes with raw power warming up this lonely cold ball of mass to the perfect temperature for just the right time over an astronomical period of time. Pure life-giving energy that is furiously nourishing shines down, indiscriminately covering everything that faces it. Small microscopic creatures capture this energy just like all plants and use it to power their bodies.
The same energy that feeds all life on earth, concentrated to solid crystal form, and into your cup. The sugar's potent effects overtake water's hydrating power, leaving little to no trace of that joyfully blank, empty canvas of a liquid base. Hot, nourishing, sweet, spicy, fragrant, rejuvenating, and comforting. A perfect way to start your day. A rousing stir to wake you up. A soothing warmth to mellow you out. A luxury, a magic potion, and a necessity, all in one.
I got bored today and gave myself that prompt. I thought of many I could do but this one seemed like fun. The. End.
